DAY TWO

"Here's a picture of Doug from Saturday, ready with silver autograph pen in hand (and this might be my favorite Doug shirt yet)" ~ 'Evening', March 20th, 2006. Read her comments on meeting Doug below ...

My husband and I were able to chat with Doug on Friday. We asked about his upcoming projects, and about the filming of Pan's Labyrinth. It was funny to hear him explain that the most frightening thing for him was the prospect of speaking a foreign language for his part. All the make-up and effects and locations he's encountered, and it was a little Spanish that had his knees knocking! As it turned out, he did a terrific job according to the native speakers, and it's a shame we won't get to hear his Spanish in the theater. Personally, I just can't wait for this film.

I returned on Saturday, and got a signed Caligari print. He offers lots of great prints, but I chose this one because I'll display it with my still from the original film; what you might call "Caligari bookends".

"...until tomorrow's dawn..." is Cesare's line from the film.

We both enjoyed talking to Doug; what a sweet and generous guy.
